Portfolio: Landscapes

Landscapes that appear to be still and empty are filled with vibrant life.

Painting landscapes is for me a form of meditation, an opportunity to be fully involved in the present moment. It is no exaggeration to say that each painting enhances my awareness, and I will never look at the world around me in the same way afterwards.

Landscape paintings have shown me that each color is enhanced by containing its opposite . . . that the color of the land is not complete unless it reflects the color of the sky . . . that sky, water, and land all flow with the same waves, but at different tempos.

All of my paintings express motion within stillness, as the present moment is contained within the dance of the infinite.
